Looking back on my notes here, I haven't written up a bunch of recent EEEpc hacking:
- followed the DebianEeePC and installed Lenny from scratch. Other than not getting uwsusp to work (it saves, it just comes right back up without powering off) it's been fine, and I'm no longer right on the edge of disk space (mostly due to purging openoffice, which is not emacs :-) This also gets me WPA that actually works, if I ever get stuck needing to use the box at work. Also gets me (via debian experimental)
xulrunner-1.9
to run a newer conkeror with...
- picked up a Matias Folding Keyboard (from the people who patented Half-Qwerty) - primarily for the ModBook, but it's almost the size of the EEE and folds out to a "real" keyboard, so I'm going to play with carrying that around for a while...
- burned another SDHC card (16G this time) after only ever using it in the Rosewill USB2 adapter - which pretty much absolves the EEE, and puts the blame on "bad SDHC manufacturing" though I'm open to suggestions on actual causes; the Nokia power-management issue requires the device have control of power, which I'm pretty sure it doesn't, for USB adapters. That's well-backed-up, just needs to be reconstructed.
The EEEXXL hasn't shown up yet; I see the 8.9" EEEpc 900 has shown up on newegg and amazon - the bigger screen is tempting, given that it really looks like they've kept the rest consistent, and 20G of flash would be nice too (though it would probably make it worth finding a way to fake up a usb-based mac-style "target disk mode" to export it :-)
